PublicEarth

The Wiki For Places

Hi Earthlings.

We've made a handful of helpful additions to the site and we'd appreciate your feedback. First, we added a simple way to add locations ("Create") using an address. It also works for lat/long. This should make adding places much easier.

Second, we revised the Search & Explore page - hopefully making browsing easier. The Category Browser has been promoted on the page - so its easier to find. And while you can still select a number of categories to look at on the map, to do so you need to Shift-Click each one. The default state is that you click on any desired category and it pops you immediately to the map, showing you the results.

Third, if you notice near the bottom of the Map you can now turn on or off all the pins that are in your PlaceBook -- or in the PlaceBooks of your friends. This makes it more interesting to explore a region you've not been, but where your friends may have better knowledge. Encourage your friends to join PublicEarth and add points to their own PlaceBooks, and as a group you can all discover interesting places from each other. Try it out.

So this is tonight's update - along with a few minor bug fixes, cosmetic improvements, and small features (ie. it's easier adding Extra links to outside sites from any Place Details Page). Enjoy!
